My surprising college recruiting story when the sexy finance girls came to win

I remember a few yrs ago I was interviewing a social media coordinator the real estate firm i was working for and one of the candidates came high to the interview. How did I know he was high? Well, lets just say I've been around people that were high. Well the recruiter called him to let him know will not be moving forward and he said, "thanks for wasting my time". We wasted his time??? I once reached out to someone who had an extremely rare combination of skills and experience that was required for a high level role (no pun intended) that I was recruiting for. The client was a CFO at a creative firm. Smart, kind, and his staff seemed to really like him. Not to mention he was gorgeous. Cherry on the cake. He seemed like a great person to work for. So, when I finally got the candidate on the phone she said she's not really looking. I said no pressure. Opportunities like this don't come along every day. Maybe meet him and then think about it if all goes well - you don't have to take the job if you get an offer! Midway through the scheduled time, I get a call from the client. The candidate hadn't arrived yet. I called her and texted and crossed my fingers. Nothing. Hours later I get a call from the CFO's assistant. It was 630 ish and the team was working late. She had showed up for her interview. Slurring her speech and barely able to walk, the cfo invited her into his office to conduct the interview. The assistant brought her a glass of water and placed it in front of her. instead of lifting the glass to her mouth, she dropped her head to the glass and began to slurp the water. He called me after. At the time, we were worried. I felt horrible. She told me she wasn't looking. I should have left her alone. The CFO mentioned that there is a bar between the subway exit and the office entrance. She probably got nervous and maybe stopped for a drink to calm her nerves? mission accomplished! I contacted her to see if she was okay but I never heard back from her. All these years later, I hope she is okay. But after all this time, I just have to laugh at the situation. Just imagining the CFO and his assistant, what they were thinking. And how they were so sweet to her. She didn't get the job. No surprise there.
